Why being social will pay off at Cisco Plus Canada

April 27, 2012

After months of travelling across the country, our Cisco Plus Canada show is set to arrive in Toronto.

We met hundreds of IT professionals, networking architects and technology partners in our recent stops in Montreal, Edmonton, Vancouver and a host of other cities. Now it’s time for our biggest event of the year, with more than 1,600 expected attendees and 30 partners showcasing Cisco solutions.

Formerly known as Networkers Solution Forum, Cisco Plus Canada will be packed with Cisco educational and training experts ready to answer any technical questions you want to throw at them at our Cisco Pavilion and demonstration walls. The event will also be jam packed with sessions and demonstrations covering video/collaboration, borderless networks and next generation data centre/cloud computing technologies.

IT, business and communication professionals at organizations of all sizes should attend, especially if they have any interest at all in deploying, upgrading or learning more about Cisco technology.

After the tremendous attendee participation we received via Twitter and Facebook during our Canadian tour this winter, we’ve made a huge effort to make Toronto’s Cisco Plus Canada the most social yet. We encourage all conference attendees to follow us on Twitter and Facebook leading up to the event and have their mobile devices ready to snap pictures and post tweets on event day.

Here’s why:

At our Cisco Plus Speaker’s Spotlight, which runs during every conference break, Cisco Canada’s top executives will sit down for exclusive interviews live in the World of Solutions. Conference attendees will be able to submit questions for these interviews via Twitter – giving you the chance to interact 1:1 with senior executives.

For Cisco Plus Canada attendees looking to make good use of their smartphone cameras, we have two contests that could score you some serious Cisco swag.

Our first photo-related contest, “Show us your #CiscoPlusCA,” will run throughout the day. We’ll randomly be asking attendees to snap photos from around the show floor and share them on Twitter using #CiscoPlusCA. We’re giving away lots of prizes to attendees who send us photos, including Tim Horton’s gift cards and Cisco swag, so watch for surprise contests during the session breaks.

Hint: Many of the “Show us your #CiscoPlus” contests will occur in the Cisco Pavilion, so be sure to hang out there and chat with our Cisco technology experts while you wait for new contests to pop up.

And we’ll be offering a Kindle Touch to our photo caption contest winner. Run on Facebook and Twitter, we’ll reveal the contest photo at 8:30 a.m. on May 16. We’re looking for the most creative and funny captions you can throw at us, so give it your best shot on Twitter using #CiscoPlusCaptions or by commenting on our Facebook page.

And to get our partners involved, we’ll be asking them to share their craziest, most interesting customer deployment stories via Twitter. Be sure to follow the #CiscoPlusCA hashtag to read and comment on these outlandish stories. The most unique partner story will be singled out toward the end of the event. Partners, we promise – it will make installing that Cisco gear in the middle of a blizzard worth the effort.

To go along with all of these online fun and games, we’ve got something special in store for attendees in our Cisco Plus Games area.  But you’ll have to wait until May 16 to find out what!

In a nutshell, if you aren’t participating with us on Twitter and Facebook, you aren’t truly experiencing everything this year’s Cisco Plus Canada has to offer. We’ll be tweeting out all the latest news, videos and announcements to keep you completely up-to-date on the show floor. And after the show ends, we’ll upload all session presentations to our SlideShare page.

So have those smartphones and tablets handy when you’re on the show floor. This is the most exciting event of year for us and we hope you’ll feel the same way. See you there!
