2 min read

Meet our Security and Software Teams” is a series of articles introducing teams or individuals at Cisco Poland, who work with Cisco’s most strategic technologies. This story features Akansha, who moved to Krakow in 2017. After gaining valuable experiences, she transitioned into a dynamic role as an incident coordinator for Cisco Umbrella

Akansha’s Cisco story began in 2015 when she joined the Cisco TAC team in Bangalore. After two years, life took her to Cisco Poland, but her journey with the company was just getting started. By 2018, she had secured a position in Cisco Managed Services within the voice domain. Despite voice not being her initial strength, Akansha embraced the challenge, meeting and exceeding the high expectations set before her. Her tenacity and desire to grow led Akansha to explore cutting-edge technologies, such as Cisco’s software-defined WAN in Advanced Services. After two enriching years there, she transitioned into another exciting and dynamic role as an incident coordinator for Cisco Umbrella.

Cisco Umbrella acts as a secure on-ramp to the internet and delivers deep inspection and control to support compliance and provide effective threat protection. Backed by Cisco Talos, one of the largest threat intelligence teams in the world, Cisco Umbrella exposes threats for better investigation and response. By delivering all this from the cloud, Umbrella offers visibility and enforcement to protect users anywhere.

In her current role, Akansha brings together her wealth of experience, orchestrating resources, and managing critical incidents to ensure customer impact is minimized. With that position comes a huge responsibility. It’s her job to ask the right questions, engage the right teams at the right time, and to translate complex technical details into management-friendly communication.

Despite the high-pressure environment, Akansha finds motivation in the challenges. For her, the sense of leadership and the chance to guide her team through crises make the responsibilities worthwhile. In a candid reflection, she shares the joy of her work minimizes the pressure that comes along with the position.

Akansha’s story is also a reflection of her growth and adaptation. The incident coordination role at Cisco Umbrella is relatively new, giving her the unique opportunity to help shape the processes and protocols for future team members. Currently, the team consists of just three global members, but as the services under their purview expand, so does the potential for the team to grow.

As Akansha looks toward the future, she sees a sky full of stars, each representing an opportunity for learning, growth, and contribution within Cisco. The continual evolution of her role and the chance to build something new from the ground up excites her. Akansha`s story is not just about individual success; it’s about the power of embracing change, the importance of a supportive work culture, and the boundless opportunities within Cisco for those who are willing to reach for them.
