Exciting times are ahead! This coming year will herald a bold new direction for Cisco.
The future, beginning in 2013, will lead into some of the most incredible changes in how the world connects and communicates. It’s hard to believe that just 15 years ago the Internet burst on to the scene. In a very short time, it has become a part of the fabric of our lives and, as we say at Cisco, it has dramatically changed how we work, how we live, how we play, even how we learn.
And, yet, we’ve barely scratched the surface. Despite all that is connected to the Internet, more than 99% of the world is still unconnected. But that’s about to change.
We’re entering the age of the “Internet of Everything,” where we’re going to connect the unconnected — including people, process, data, and things. And it’s in this new world that we’ll talk to each other in entirely new ways. As a result, networked connections will become more relevant and more valuable than ever before. Cisco in Canada will be saying a whole lot more about this strategy in the coming year and it will certainly be a part of my message around innovation in Canada.
As we connect the previously unconnected, amazing things will happen and amazing experiences will be created. We’ll also see unprecedented opportunities for countries, businesses, and individuals. For Cisco, this is our DNA – our heritage. We have been leading the world in connecting the unconnected. And we’ve been preparing our customers for this very moment.
Ultimately, we’ll be creating new connections at a rate never seen before. And it’s these new connections that will unlock a vast human potential. It’s an exciting time and 2013 will be the year that it all begins.
