Cisco vs. competitors: Miercom puts ISR 1100 to the test in router bakeoff

1 min read

If you’ve been following our transformation journey over the past year and few months, things have been moving quickly since we announced our intent-based network last June—marking our biggest shift as an organization in nearly a decade as we entered into a new era of networking.  Fast forward to 2018, we then extended our intent-based networking capabilities from the campus to branch environments building on our recent acquisition of Viptela—bringing together the world’s best hardware and software to create the ultimate SD-WAN solution. It’s a cloud-first, software-driven approach that routes traffic, maintains application performance, and adapts to changing conditions—all without direct IT oversight.

The good news? The SD-WAN solution is now available on newer ISR (Integrated Services Router) platforms, allowing existing users and organizations of all shapes and sizes—including SMB—to reap the automation benefits of intent-based networking. But how do we compare with other vendors in the game? Let’s have the experts weigh in.

In order to validate our latest hardware and software innovations at the branch level, independent research firm Miercom put our ISR 1100 to the test in a recent report comparing performance, security and Wi-Fi capabilities between routers from HPE and Huawei. Their findings conclude the following:

“With throughput performance and wireless support that outpaces competitive branch-office routers from Huawei and HP Enterprise, we proudly award the Miercom Performance Verified certification to Cisco’s Integrated Services Router ISR 1100 Series”

– Miercom, 21 August 2018
