Connecting Students to Canadian History

1 min read

On Thursday April 6th, 10,000 students across Canada were connected from coast to coast to coast, in a live, online event to honour the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.  This battle is considered a seminal moment in the history of Canada, when the four divisions of the Canadian Expeditionary Force fought together for the first time.   In advance of the ceremonies at Vimy taking place this week, the Centre for Global Education hosted an event where students and special guests shared artistic expressions and words of insight, while connected via video and social media tools.

Cisco Canada was honoured to bring together the largest gathering of youth in remembrance of the Battle of Vimy Ridge through our technology, which connected the ten remote sites and the videoconferencing endpoint at the Canadian War Museum. Technology is able to open up a new world for students to learn in new ways.  The possibilities are limitless.
