To Live and Collab in L.A.

November 20, 2014

This year Collaboration Summit was set in sunny Southern California and although I’m sad I couldn’t be there, I thought I would hop on the Cisco Canada Blog to review the major announcements. So without further ado, let’s take a look at Project Squared, the Cisco Business Edition 6000 coming to the mid-market and the new look three-screen TelePresence units.

Project Squared

You’ve heard us talk about the importance on connectedness and how one of our principle goals is extending it to all devices, which leads me to one of our most exciting Collaboration Summit announcements, Project Squared.  Project Squared integrates video, web, voice, IM and email seamlessly to be the all-in-one business collaboration application that you’ve been waiting for. Its multi-device functionality ensures that regardless how many project teams, devices, operating systems and time zones you’re working in, when you need it, you’ll have it. Project Squared is available now on Google Play, Apple’s App Store, and for your Mac or PC here.

Cisco Business Edition 6000S

We’ve heard the demands of our customers and partners that want a cutting edge collaboration solution that delivers enterprise level performance to the mid-sized business world. I’m here today to proudly report that we’ve responded, with vigour by introducing the Business Edition 6000S. The latest edition to the BE6K family bolsters the industry’s first all-in-one collaboration platform that accompanies a built-in Cisco router and delivers video, voice and collaboration capability. Learn more about the BE6KS announcement here.

TelePresence IX5000

A Cisco collaboration update wouldn’t be complete without a look at our brand new, re-imagined flagship three-screen TelePresence unit. What if I told you we increased functionality while cutting bandwidth, install time and required power in half?  Well, believe it because that’s exactly what the Cisco IX5000 series delivers. Here are some of my other favourite features about the IX5000:

  • Three 4K cameras (an industry first)
  • Video collaboration experience for up to 18 people
  • Three 70-inch HD screens
  • Theatre quality sound via 18 custom speakers and subwoofer

All in all this year’s collaboration summit was one of the best in recent memory. The combination of setting and these major announcements made it one to remember. Did you attend Collaboration Summit this year? Leave a comment below.

Stay tuned for our Canadian collaboration GM Ian Gallagher’s reflection on Collaboration Summit in the coming weeks.
