Cisco Plus attendees take to Twitter, more events on the way

2 min read

The Cisco Plus Canada Roadshow has been making its way across the country, with stops in Montreal, Edmonton, Vancouver and Ottawa. With these successful events under our belt, I’d like to share some of the great feedback we’ve received from attendees, including IT professionals, networking architects and show partners.

We asked attendees this year to join the conversation on Twitter and weren’t disappointed. There was a tremendous amount of activity on the #CiscoPlus hashtag during each event.

Edmonton attendee @GavinMartinson tweeted his excitement about his organization’s forthcoming journey to the cloud, adding that he truly sees this “as the future utility when it comes to IT.” Another Cisco Plus attendee from Oilers country, @shaunguthrie, enjoyed most of the sessions throughout the day, including the cloud track focused on UCS hardware and other Cisco offerings. Overall, he tweeted, the event was “worth the day away from work.”

Later in the day, Shaun drummed up some discussion about IPv6. During the information packed Borderless Network track, Shaun tweeted that “IPv6 is good, but still far away.” A fellow Edmonton attendee @Rob_Coote replied back, arguing that “It’s not as far as you’d think!”

Rob added that the Borderless Network track was important to him because public schools are inundated with tablets and smartphones. “My WiFi needs help!”

We were particularly impressed with how Edmonton attendees took to Twitter to share their opinions throughout the show. With the next Cisco Plus stop scheduled for Calgary on January 18, we expect a lot more tweets from the Province of Alberta in 2012.

But that’s not to say we didn’t get a great response from Cisco Plus events outside of Edmonton.

At our Ottawa event, @jeffbather tweeted out how much he enjoyed the “very informative” Borderless Networks track. “Smartphones and tablets are everywhere,” Jeff tweeted from the event floor. Also at the Ottawa event, @GaryChampagne tweeted his appreciation for the “Journey to the Cloud” session as well as the “well informed” Cisco representatives answering questions in the solutions exchange.

In Montreal, @2uanta was impressed with the Cisco Cius demo session and left the event with a “good overview” of Cisco’s video conferencing solutions.

Of course, none of these events would be possible without the help of our Cisco Plus partners EMC, NetApp and VMware.  When speaking recently to Grant Aitken, area vice-president of VMware Canada, he told me that his company is incredibly proud to be a Cisco Plus sponsor.

“VMware is dedicated to helping companies of all sizes leverage the cloud, harness the power of virtualization, and reduce the complexity of IT. We look forward to meeting with attendees at more of these exciting events across Canada,” he said.

And we’re happy to say that Grant is in luck!

The Cisco Plus Roadshow will continue its trek across Canada with a slate of stops in Victoria, Winnipeg, Regina, Quebec City, London, Halifax, Fredericton and Kelowna.  All of those events, which will open  for registration soon, will take place in March and April 2012.

Our Canadian roadshow will culminate in our huge annual event in Toronto during May 2012, which will feature many more sessions, prizes and fun!

All dates, times and event venues for upcoming Cisco Plus shows will be unveiled soon. Keep checking the Cisco Plus website for more information. And please feel free to continue contributing to the #CiscoPlus conversation on Twitter.
