Cisco Canada to Connect Players, Journalists and Fans via Telepresence at the Rogers Cup
Starting this weekend, Cisco Canada will help spectators, journalists and players be in two places at once at the Rogers Cup. Utilizing Cisco TelePresence technology, Cisco will enable real-time video to help connect the men’s and women’s tennis tournaments, hosted simultaneously in Montreal and Toronto. For the first time, the two tournaments will be played during the same week and TelePresence will connect both venues through high-definition video links, allowing participants in both cities to interact with each other throughout the event.
Cisco TelePresence is an immersive meeting experience, boasting video and audio clarity, and creating a live, face-to-face communication experience for enhanced collaboration. Globally, Cisco Connected Sports solutions are helping teams, venues and events deliver more powerful, personalized fan experiences. The Rogers Cup is the latest here in Canada and will be one of the largest technology integrations that Cisco Canada has deployed at a sporting event.
Cisco TelePresence units will be located in the players’ lounges, media rooms, Rogers Connected Zone and the Tennis Canada booth. The setup will be capable of connecting up to five locations at any given time. TelePresence will also be utilized in the media rooms in both Toronto and Montreal during daily press conferences and player interviews. Journalists and players will be able to interact seamlessly regardless of which city they are in. Plus twice daily, spectators in both cities will have the opportunity to meet players and ask them questions through Cisco TelePresence units located in the Rogers and Tennis Canada tents at both venues. When the TelePresence technology is not in use, the units will be used as digital signage, displaying match updates and customized content for Rogers Cup attendees.
The players’ lounge in each city will use the desktop-compatible Cisco TelePresence EX90 with touch-screen interface for face-to-face communication between players, the media and fans. The Cisco TelePresence EX series offer full high-definition 24-inch or 21.5-inch screen experiences. They also feature simple and intuitive touch-screen control, video resolution up to 1080p30, support for both Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and H.323 along with natural, transparent collaboration with one-touch sharing of high-definition (HD) content.
The TelePresence Profile Series will also be used on site. The Profile Series offers lifelike HD video collaboration, and an easy-to-use and consistent video experience.
