“Running?!” Yes, mum. Your child is running, and it’s not from a fire or for a bus.
I started running because I physically resemble a shot-putter as opposed to a Radcliffe or a Gunnell. Because I hated running more than anything, and it was my biggest weakness. I even took part in Cisco’s Ride Across Britain because there was promise of a sit-down. (False advertising- had to pedal uphill at the same time)
Now, a year after starting that treacherous first trot, I’m encouraging others to join me, like a Lycra’ed Pied Piper.
“Follow me, children! A running medal awaits!”
In the last year I discovered I wasn’t alone, – in fact, it’s positively a ‘movement’ – and several others around me were testing their limits by signing up to their first 10ks.
My question to you, reader: Are you a glory-hunter? Do you love a bit of bling? How about the enjoyment of feeling smug, or affording yourself a well-deserved fry-up? You could even be a well-established runner!

Last Saturday, we finished our first run together: The 10K MoRun in Greenwich Park.
Huge congratulations to those who took part, with props to Will Brewin and Tom Lyskov for fantastic outfits.
