With the digital revolution only snowballing how important are tech apprenticeships in fuelling the digital talent pipelines of the future, ensuring the sector has a bright future. How are/can companies benefits?

The challenge of finding individuals with the right skills and talent is greater than ever. Our industry is now so broad that it requires a similarly diverse mix of talent to take it forward. The Tech Partnership published an analysis of tech jobs recently and predicted 1.7 million new tech roles will be created over the next ten years. In our ever-changing nation, we will need people with a mix of skills to do jobs that have not even been considered yet.

Cisco is proud of its award-winning apprentices. Since its inception in 2011, our programme has continued to grow due to the increasing demand of this unique talent from inside our business. The growth of the programme is also a crucial part of our Country Digitisation commitment; investing in the digital economy, developing digital skills and creating high-value jobs.

This summer we’re excited to launch the Cisco Degree Apprenticeship; an innovative collaboration between Cisco, apprenticeship training providers and higher education. This blend of skills development and study will develop the future talent we need, whilst giving our apprentices the experience-based learning they enjoy alongside the university qualifications they aspire to achieve.

The creation of trailblazer Apprenticeship standards that Cisco, in partnership with other tech companies, have developed, give employers the confidence that apprenticeship training will be relevant and flexible to the ever-evolving nature of the industry. There has never been a better, or more vital time, to recruit and invest in apprentices that will make hugely valuable contributions and become the lifeblood of the sector’s future needs.
