At Técnico’s Alameda campus, a special moment unfolded last October that brought together students, professors, and Cisco colleagues to celebrate excellence in education. Miguel Andrade, a standout student in the Architecture and Network Management course, was awarded the Cisco Merit Prize for his remarkable academic performance. Scoring an impressive 19 out of 20, Miguel’s dedication and hard work were recognized in a ceremony that highlighted not only his achievement but also the strong partnership between Cisco and Técnico.
This prize, now in its fifth edition, goes beyond individual recognition. It includes a monetary award for the student and a donation to the department, helping improve teaching conditions and resources. Nuno Horta, president of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, expressed his gratitude to Cisco for supporting both students and the broader academic community. The event also gave space to appreciate the efforts of faculty members who contribute to the course’s success and the jury’s thoughtful evaluation.
Representing Cisco, João Marques shared a few heartfelt words: “It’s a pleasure to be back at this ceremony for the fifth time. Cisco truly enjoys rewarding excellence and investing in young education.” His message captured the spirit of the event and Cisco’s commitment to nurturing future talent. This partnership between Cisco and Técnico continues to inspire students to aim higher and build strong foundations for their careers, while also reinforcing the connection between academia and the tech industry.
