Meet Magdalena, a real Tech Guru, Technical Lead in Cisco Security TAC Team, based in Krakow. Almost a decade ago, she stumbled into Cisco as an intern, all thanks to a random visit to the Cisco Open Day with her university friends on Politechnika Wroclawska.
It all started with a government contest, mentioned by a Cisco leader from the Cisco Networking Academy programme for IT-loving girls. Magdalena’s professor, spotting the lone girl in her thesis, cracked a joke and said “Apply!”. Winners? They get the golden ticket to work in any IT company in Poland.
Guess who called three months later? Correct, Cisco! Given the chance to work in Sales or Technical Assistance Center (TAC), Magdalena chose TAC, diving headfirst into Security. Why? Because she didn’t know much about it and wanted to soak up knowledge like a tech sponge. The rest? Well, it’s history in the making.

Magdalena highlights that her career path was a whirlwind of skill enhancement. Unexpectedly, assertiveness and the power to speak her mind emerged as her superpowers.
Magdalena’s advice?
Listen actively, heed others’ advice, seize chances because they might not come knocking twice. Trust the process, embrace change, and banish negativity. Even when something seemingly scary pops up, take the risk!
Her journey wasn’t a walk in the park, so Magdalena’s paying it forward by supporting other girls in their careers. Because the path to success is better when shared, and at Cisco you are never alone in the journey to greatness!
