Kathy English brings more than 25 years of IT marketing, product management, healthcare business and industry marketing experience to Cisco's Go-to-Market team. During her tenure at Cisco, Kathy has led the team focused on healthcare industry solutions marketing, expanded her role to cover Public Sector Segment Marketing and most recently, covered all vertical industry markets strategies, plans and programs. Today, Kathy leads the Data Center Go to Market team. In this role, Kathy and her team develop GTM marketing strategies, plans and plays that will accelerate customer, influencer and partner adoption of Cisco's Data Center solutions, services and Capital portfolio. Kathy, her husband, Mark and Maltese puppy, Sophia, live in Santa Clara where she is very close to our corporate office.Her husband is Italian and a rock guitar playing musician while Kathy opts for the more classical approach to music by playing the flute and saxophone.Her Registered Nursing license drives her to keep all of us focused on good health and work/life balance!

Prior to joining Cisco, Kathy was employed by Medsphere as the Vice President of Product Management and, after establishing the product management team expanded her responsibilities to manage the product development and quality assurance groups. With Medsphere, she established the open roadmap, interoperability strategy and an open development approach for one of few open source strategies for healthcare Electronic Health Record's. Prior to joining Medsphere, Kathy was SVP of Product Management and Marketing at Picis, a venture backed clinical information solution company. During her ten year tenure at Picis, she spearheaded global product direction and was instrumental in creating, defining and delivering solutions surrounding "automation of the critical care continuum" and "total perioperative automation" which further evolved into "high acuity automation". Along with the strategy, Kathy was responsible for detailing the integration plan after acquisition of two new interdependent software packages and driving the package to partners such as GE Healthcare and Siemens (EU). Prior to Picis, she was the product manager of clinical systems at Compucare (now QuadraMed). Earlier in her career, Kathy held sales and marketing positions at a Fortune 500 healthcare company known as Support Systems International (now HillRom), a division of Hillenbrand Industries.

Kathy earned a degree in Nursing from George Mason University and has over seven years of experience in patient care and nursing management in critical care, surgery and oncology. Her nursing experience consisted of bedside care delivery for patient’s in the high acuity areas of the hospital in both large teaching facilities (INOVA Health Systems) and community hospitals (Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center). Her critical care experience included emergency, neonatal, trauma and cardiac focused environments. In addition to bedside care, Kathy held charge nurse roles as well as participated in the hospitals’ standards committee to define the critical care aspect of the Nursing standards of care and policy. Kathy’s bedside care delivery occurred in the late 1980s and early 1990s and Kathy has remained engaged with the nursing community through on site visits, observation and validation as part of the requirements gathering for nursing workflow automation solutions. Kathy is a member of CARING, an active blogger and subscribes to a number of nursing list serves.
