l’administration Obama lance une initiative BigData
Accélérer la recherche , renforcer la sécurité nationale et transformer la manière d’enseigner et d’apprendre voilà ce qui semble être à l’origine de « Big Data Research and Development Initiative”, lancée par l’administration Obama (Office of Science and Technology Policy : OSTP) ce 29 mars, .
Six agences et départements fédéraux annonceront plus de 200 millions de dollars d’investissements pour supporter cette initiative en améliorant de manière importante les outils et techniques nécessaires dans un environnement bigdata.
Cette annonce décrit les premières étapes d’engagements des agencies. A titre d’exemple les agences concernées :
- National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health – Core Techniques and technologies for Advancing Big Data Science & Engineering
- Department of Defense – Data to Decision
- National Institutes of Health – 1000 Genomes Project Data Available on Cloud
- Department of Energy – Scientific Discovery Through Advanced Computing
- US Geological Survey – Big Data for Earth System Science
