Remote work is a growing trend with rapid adoption worldwide and in particular in Latin America: consultants such as Gartner and others reflect this with a growth trend of 40% by 2021.
Due to the global circumstances generated by the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease), the trend has accelerated abruptly since many people who are now working from home do so as part of the strategy of companies and organizations. to avoid infections and preserve the health of the population.
In line with this, and as alerts spread across different countries, our monitoring of the Webex service shows a rapidly increasing rate of use of both the free service and our subscribers.
For this reason Cisco has prepared a set of actions to help companies continue their operations and, more than that, that employees work and be productive while they are safe at home.
It’s our priority to enable people to work from anywhere (including home), anytime, and on any device so they stay connected with their teams and can continue their business operations. As the market leader, we’re enabling this in multiple ways.
Effective immediately, we extend Webex features to all countries that already have our free offer available, and not just those affected by COVID-19.
Full details of the offer and eligible countries are available here.
The additional features include:
Additionally, through our partners and the Cisco sales team, we are providing free 90-day licenses to businesses who are not Webex customers in this time of need. We’re also helping existing customers meet their rapidly changing needs as they enable a much larger number of remote workers by expanding their usage at no additional cost.
For customers with active Webex subscriptions, we are facilitating temporary subscription expansion. For Enterprise Agreement and Active User subscriptions, Cisco offers an additional 90 days to calculate the true forward. During the same period, the subscriptions of Named Users may be increased by up to 20%.
In the region, all the models detailed above are available. Check how to get the free service here.
We are doing everything in our power to support this difficult time. We will continue to provide timely updates and practical advice on remote working and much more. Meanwhile, our thoughts are with all those affected in this situation.
Our own team in China is also using Webex (you may think of Webex as just conferencing – but Webex includes video meetings, persistent chat, specialized work from home video devices and calling) from their homes in Hefei, Hangzhao, Suzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, and other cities. It’s incredible to witness this team’s high spirit and comradery as they work together not just in their business dealings, but also in banding together as one family, deeply connected to their communities and each other.
We’re also proactively expanding our worldwide meeting capacity, scaling up further in the United States and Europe, working with non-governmental organizations to enable schools (among other use cases), while partnering closely with our customers who are rapidly scaling up their work from home efforts.
Cisco has been in this business longer than any other vendor on the planet. We are doing all we can and are prepared to help through this trying time. We will continue to provide our point of view, timely updates, and practical advice on remote working and much more.
In the meantime, our thoughts are with all those who are impacted.
