Introducing Our New Small and Mid-Size Business-Focused Blog Series

December 19, 2012

Hi my name is Gary Isaacs, Vice President Mid-market and Small Business at Cisco Canada. Welcome to Cisco Canada’s new blog series focused on the small and mid-size business market. Rod Scotland, National Architecture Strategy Lead, Mid-market and Small Business, Cisco Canada and I are excited for the opportunity to focus on some key issues taking place around this market in Canada and hope that you’ll find value in the topics and information being discussed in upcoming blog posts. We also appreciate feedback; so if you have any questions or topics you’d like to see discussed, please let us know in the comments section or via the email address provided below.

Throughout the series, you’ll also see question and answer blogs and guest posts from respected industry thought leaders. Our goal is to bring to life some of the challenges faced by small and mid-sized businesses across various industries in Canada by incorporating case studies, real-time industry news, trends and solutions that can make business easier.

More importantly, our blog series will be centered on the critical role that technology plays in the day-to-day business operations in Canada’s small and mid-sized businesses, and how when implemented properly, can provide a positive return on investment. We’ll discuss key topics such as wireless, bring your own device (BYOD), security and video, with focus on technologies that can enable you to streamline and grow your business and your bottom-line. Technology is leading the forefront for tomorrow’s successful businesses and it is Cisco’s imperative to help drive growth in Canada’s small and mid-size market.

In our next few posts, we’ll be focusing on key wireless business challenges, such as coverage, interference, network design and energy efficiency. We’ll also be conducting a Q&A with Sean Stanleigh, well-known small business editor for The Globe and Mail. In this post, we will discuss more of the overarching technology challenges facing small and mid-size businesses in Canada regarding proper use, rules and regulations, scalability and security.

We look forward to this series and hope that you’ll take part in the discussion by sharing your thoughts and ideas with us. To contact me directly, please email askgary@external.cisco.com.

  1. Dear Gary,

Thank you very much for the feedback.
I am asking this question is that for the small and mid-size business, in most cases the CAPEX and OPEX are much more sensitive, and at the same time the network security and performance requirements as well as easy connection anywhere are same as of big business. So the buisness for the small and mid-size enterprises are more challenging.

Thanks very much. (very good blog).
    Ronghai.

    Hi Ronghai,

Thanks for taking the time to read our blog and provide feedback. We’ll be addressing your question in our next blog post, which will feature thoughts from Sean Stanleigh, The Globe and Mail small business Editor, who has a good pulse on the industry. We will also provide our suggested solutions to these issues in subsequent blog posts. But of course, we’d love to hear what you think are the most critical issues small and mid-size businesses are facing too. Feel free to let us know. Thanks again for your feedback and interest.

    Gary

  3. Maybe the first question is what’s the most critical issue that the small and mid-size business is facing now in Canada? and what’s your solution to help them?
