The Lang and O’Leary Exchange Utilizes Cisco TelePresence

September 23, 2011

TelePresence (TP) is truly an experience that should be seen in order to be fully appreciated. The Cisco technology is an absolutely amazing collaboration tool and I can only describe the experience of TP as the closest thing to being there – in the same room having a face-to-face conversation with someone. We at Cisco use the technology every single day of our working lives and it is allowing us to collaborate in ways we could not have imagined, in addition to achieving massive savings in time and travel expense.

TP is appearing everywhere and is being used by governments, healthcare, education and businesses of all types. But seeing is believing. You can do that by checking out the Lang and O’Leary Exchange television program – a no-holds-barred discussion on business – seen regularly on the CBC. TP is being used to keep the lively discussion between Amanda Lang and Kevin O’Leary even when Kevin is in his office in Montreal. Check out the video I recorded on the use of TelePresence by the Lang and O’Leary Exchange.

Definitely a good idea, Justin. There are lots of connected devices and even more video and communications applications. We’re still somewhat early in the TelePresence game, but innovation is moving rapidly and TP will soon touch all of our lives. Standardization will emerge as things continue to evolve. Rest assured that Cisco will play a big part of TP’s future.

  2. I wish I could say that’s surprising, but it really is EVERYWHERE. It’s a great product, nice customization options, and simple enough for the non-techie end users to use.

Since there’s an Apple IOS app for CUCM (Cisco Moble), I’m just waiting for a TP app to show up for iPhones/iPads and Android devices to make it the de facto standard for online video communication. Right now it seems muddied with various companies having their own standard, Cisco could really capitalize from releasing for multiple platforms.
